1. Overview

Vidscape ("we", "our", "us") provides a Chrome Extension and web dashboard that helps YouTube creators research, analyze, and optimize their content. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about the data we collect and how we use it.

The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and a securely hashed password. We use this solely to authenticate you across the extension and dashboard.

2.2 Publicly Available YouTube Data

We collect aggregated, publicly accessible data from YouTube associated with channels and content you interact with. This includes:

• Video titles, IDs, view counts, and publish dates
• Channel names, subscriber counts, video counts, and country
• Video tags and descriptions
• Aggregated performance metrics (e.g., average views per video)

This data is publicly visible on YouTube and does not contain any personal information identifying you or any other individual. We use this data to provide analytics features such as the Videolytics sidebar, Channel Library, and Daily Ideas.

2.3 YouTube Studio Data

If you use Studio features, the extension may collect analytics data from your YouTube Studio dashboard (views, revenue, audience demographics). This data is encrypted end-to-end using AES-256-CBC + RSA-2048-OAEP before being transmitted to our servers. The data cannot be read during transit.

2.4 Channel Library

When you save a channel to your Channel Library, we store the channel ID, handle, and name associated with your account. Channel statistics are fetched from the YouTube Data API and cached for up to 72 hours.

2.5 Usage Data

We may collect basic usage information such as which features you use and how often, to help us improve the product. We do not track your general browsing activity outside of YouTube and YouTube Studio.

3. How We Use Your Data

• To display analytics and insights in the extension sidebar
• To power AI features (title suggestions, daily ideas) — we send video titles and tags to our AI provider, with no personal information included
• To save and organize channels in your Channel Library
• To provide YouTube Studio analytics through the dashboard
• To improve, maintain, and develop new features for our product

4. YouTube API Services

Vidscape uses YouTube API Services to collect publicly available channel and video data. Our use of YouTube API Services is governed by YouTube's Terms of Service and Google's Privacy Policy.

You may revoke Vidscape's access to your data at any time via the Google Security Settings page.

5. Third-Party Services

We may share data with the following third-party services to provide our features:

• YouTube Data API — to fetch channel information (subscribers, views, country). Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
• Google Translate — if you use the auto-translate comments feature, comment text is sent to Google for translation.
• AI Provider — video titles and tags may be sent to generate title suggestions and content ideas. No personal information is included in these requests.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.

6. Data Storage & Security

• Authentication tokens are stored locally in your browser and are not synced to any external servers
• Studio data is encrypted with AES-256-CBC + RSA-2048-OAEP before transmission
• Our servers communicate exclusively over HTTPS with rate limiting and input validation
• Passwords are hashed using bcrypt before storage
• We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data

7. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide our services. YouTube channel cache data is automatically refreshed every 72 hours. If you request account deletion, all associated data is permanently removed within 30 days.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Right to Access — Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Right to Deletion — Request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting support@vidscape.io
• Right to Portability — Request your data in a structured, machine-readable format
• Right to Restrict Processing — Disable individual features in the extension Settings page to stop specific data collection
• Right to Uninstall — Removing the extension stops all data collection immediately

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at support@vidscape.io. We will respond to your request within 30 days.

9. Children's Privacy

Vidscape is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the extension or dashboard. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Your continued use of Vidscape after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
